The start of the Beth Budnik era began with Luxemburg-Casco falling to Marinette 43-35.

The two teams kept things close in the first half with the visiting Marines only holding an 18-16 at the break. Bryana Torkko was a thorn for the Spartans, scoring all eight of her points in the first half and joining Riley Kieffer and Chloe Seymour with the team lead. Brianna Bray and Erin Cherovsky carried the load in the first half for the Spartans as they each scored seven points. 

The Marines would go on to outscore the Spartans 25-19 in the second half thanks to six points from Madison Kuoazk, all of which came after the break. Cherovsky would end her night with 14 points as Bray added 13 in the loss for the Spartans.
