The Luxemburg-Casco Spartans will begin their 2023 football campaign against the Xavier Hawks of the Bay Conference Friday night in Luxemburg.
The Spartans are coming off a 5-5 season where they lost in the first round of the WIAA playoffs to Fox Valley Lutheran 21-12.
Xavier was 7-4 overall and bowed out in the second round of the WIAA playoffs to Little Chute of the NEC.
The Spartans started fast last season going 4-1 but struggled after losing starting quarterback Max Ronsman to a season-ending leg injury against Little Chute.
Ronsman, a senior, is back healthy this year and will run the offense that will return most of their starters from last year’s squad. Luxemburg-Casco Head Coach Neil Seering is excited about the progress the team has made during training camp and last week’s scrimmage.
The pregame is set for 6:45 pm on 104.1 WRLU and kick-off set for 7 p.m. from the Luxemburg-Casco Sports Complex. Paul Schmitt and Jim Mrotek will have the play-by-play of the game which will also be streamed worldwide on 1041wrlu.com and NewRadioSportsNetwork.com.
