Spartan baseball tops Fox Valley Lutheran on 104.1 WRLU

The Luxemburg-Casco Spartans were able to turn the tables on the  Fox Valley Lutheran Friday afternoon by beating the Foxes 7-4 in North Eastern Conference baseball, after losing to them on Tuesday.

Denmark started the game with three consecutive singles to load the bases, but Schley was able to minimize the damage to one run, thanks to Routhieaux throwing out a runner at the plate to end the inning.

The Spartans managed to score two runs of their own in the bottom of the first playing small ball on a sac fly by Cole Jacquet and a squeeze bunt by Max Thayse.

A big four-run third inning gave the Spartans a commanding 6-1 lead, with the help of wildness by Foxes' pitcher Mac Kramer who walked three batters in the inning a wild pitched a run home.

The Foxes would score three unanswered runs, including a rocket home run to left field by Corey Riesop, to close within 6-4 late in the game, but Max Thayse delivered a big two-out hit in the bottom of the sixth to give the Spartans a 7-4 cushion.

Ryan Routhieaux came in to close the door in the top of the seventh inning to earn the save giving Schley the win.  Kramer took the loss for the Foxes, giving up six runs in five innings.
