L-C softball faces Kewaunee in non-conference play

After a convincing win over the Waupaca Comets on Tuesday, the Luxemburg-Casco Spartans girls softball team will have another test when they welcome in the Kewaunee Storm Thursday.

L-C was able to take down Waupaca 14-2 on Tuesday, rolling through the comets. The Spartans jumped out to an early lead scoring seven runs off of four hits in the first inning.  The inning was highlighted by Josie Dorner's three-run homerun.  Waupaca answered in the bottom of the second inning scoring one run.  L-C countered with three more runs in the third on base hits by Maggie Hanmann, Anna Vandermause, Payton Kaminski, and Kylie Hanson.  The Comets struck again in the fourth inning scoring their second and final run of the game before the Spartans scored one more in the fifth and three more in the sixth.

The Storm of Kewaunee defeated Valders 5-4 on Tuesday and come into the matchup with L-C with a 4-1 overall record and a 2-0 Packerland Conference record. The ability to score many runs in an inning for Kewaunee will be something for the Spartans to keep an eye on in the non-conference matchup.

First pitch is scheduled for 4:30 p.m.
