Luxemburg-Casco and Freedom put on a thrilling display of softball in their doubleheader on Friday evening in NEC action, with the teams splitting the games in a nail-biting showdown. In the first game, Luxemburg-Casco secured a 1-0 victory behind Savanah Jandrin who threw a one-hitter to stifle Freedom's offense. Kylie Hanson went 1 for 1 with the go-ahead RBI double and two walks. Maggie Hanmann went 1 for 2. The tightly contested game featured solid defense by both teams, with Luxemburg-Casco making several key plays to preserve their slim lead. Paige Vande Loo took the loss on the mound, while Saige Jarmolowicz had the only hit for Freedom.

The second game was a marathon affair and saw both teams battle it out until the bottom of the 10th inning. Luxemburg-Casco ultimately fell to the Freedom by a score of 3-2. Kylie Hanson was 3 for 4 with two doubles and an RBI, and Gracie Karr went 2 for 5. Paige Vande Loo went the distance on the mound while Maddie Smith was 2 for 3, and Riley Murphy was 3 for 5 for Irish.

On Monday, Luxemburg-Casco is scheduled to travel to Algoma to take on the Wolves in non-conference action on the diamond if weather allows.

The pregame on 104.1 WRLU begins at 4:15 p.m. with first pitch scheduled for 4:30 p.m.  The game will also be streamed on New Radio Sports Network with Paul Schmitt and Reece Robillard on the call.
