The Luxemburg-Casco Spartans softball team is set for a doubleheader Friday afternoon with the Freedom Irish in NEC softball. 

Luxemburg-Casco took care of business in their first NEC game against Clintonville, rolling to a 11-1 victory. The Spartans jumped out to an early lead scoring 9 runs in the first off of 5 walks, a double by Rylan Kaminski and singles by Maggie Hanmann, Anna Vandermause, Gracie Kahr and Kylie Hanson. L-C was a force on the diamond last season and will look to continue to repeat that success in 2023. 

Freedom found even more success than the Spartans did however, claiming a state championship in the division two bracket, defeating Jefferson 5-4. The Irish have started their season 2-0 so far, defeating Oconto Falls 7-1 and Fox Valley Lutheran 10-0. Luxemburg-Casco fell to Freedom 1-0 and 5-0 in the two teams doubleheader last season.
