Lady Spartan season ends with loss to West De Pere on 104.1 WRLU

The Luxemburg-Casco Lady Spartans' season ended Friday night as the West De Pere Phantoms rolled to a 62-22 win in a WIAA Division 2 girl’s basketball regional semi-final.

The Spartans started out strong, jumping to a 4-2 lead in the first three minutes, but West De Pere would go on a 9-0 run to take an 11-4 lead and never look back.

The Phantoms took a 33-17 lead into halftime behind a big first half from Faith Walder, who scored 16 points will, most coming on driving layups off the dribble.

West De Pere would go on a 20-1 run to start the second half and put the game away with relentless defense and transition baskets from turnovers.

Walder led the Phantoms with 18 points, and Eva Francois added 17 more as West De Pere scored consistently from the outside and inside all night.

#6 seeded Luxemburg-Casco finished the season 11-14 and will have seven returning players next year as seniors Amanda Fameree, Haley Paye, Lily Giese, and Sammy Treml left the game together in the final seconds to end their careers.

#3 West De Pere (19-5) will now travel to play #2 Fox Valley Lutheran on Saturday in the regional final.

The next L-C Spartan basketball broadcast will be the boys' regional opener against the Pulaski Red Raiders Tuesday night in Pulaski.  Paul Schmitt and Reece Robillard will have the call on 104.1 WRLU and streamed on New Radio Sports Network.
