Spartans Girls Basketball travels to Marinette for NEC Opener

The Luxemburg-Casco Spartans girls’ basketball team were stunned by the Algoma Wolves last Thursday. They will look to bounce back against conference foe Marinette on Tuesday night.

After the 50-45 loss to Algoma, the Spartans had some time to get back to the drawing board before their matchup with the Marines. Junior Magdeline Hanmann led the way for Luxemburg-Casco as she put 11 points on the board, followed by Brianna Bray who scored 10. The loss of Taylor Thiry and Lauren Adams for the Spartans have been well documented, and showed up in the Spartans opener.

The results for the Marines of Marinette have been a mixed bag so far, as they took a close loss in their season opener to Coleman 59-54, but then took down Peshtigo 50-40 on the road. Riley Kieffer has been a bright spot for the Marines so far this season, as she is averaging 22 points in her two games played on exactly 50% shooting from the field.

Tip is scheduled for 7:00 in Marinette.
