Spartans gear up for new boys basketball season

The Luxemburg Casco Spartans had a solid season last year, and will look to improve on it despite losing their top scorers from a season ago.

The Spartans relied on some of their seniors last season, as Peyton Mrotek, Evan Dahlke, and Owen Deprez to do the scoring for them as they were the top leading scorers on the team at 18.6, 10.2, and 7.9 respectively for each player. Jack Rollin could see himself stepping into one of those roles as a scorer, as he put in 6.5 a game last season in more of a supporting cast role. Now with those big time names gone, multiple Spartans will need to chip in to replace their production.

L-C found themselves finishing the season at .500 exactly in NEC play at 9-9, and .500 overall at 13-13. The Spartans were knocked out of the playoffs in the second round by West De Pere, by a score of 86-75. Also look for Caleb Blohowiak to take a step up after putting in some quality minutes in the Spartans second round playoff matchup.

Luxemburg Casco opens up their season by hosting the Kewaunee Storm on November 22nd. They open NEC play on the 29th as they travel to Marinette to take on the Marines.
