Luxemburg-Casco volleyball's streak ends against Xavier

There will be no four-peat for the Luxemburg-Casco volleyball team as they lost in straight sets to Xavier in Appleton Thursday night 25-20, 25-23, 25-15.

Head coach Jeff Frey credited Xavier's coaches and players in the team's first best-of-five match defeat  since October 19th, 2019. "All the credit goes to Luke and his team, they played well and put a lot of pressure on us.  They were just better than us tonight."

Standing out for the Spartans were Alayna Deprez (28 assists and 9 digs), Kylie Hanson (12 kills and 9 digs), Autumn Flynn (10 kills), and Brooke VandeHei (10 digs).

"I am so incredibly proud of our ladies, night in and night out, we got everyone’s best shot, and they rose to the occasion so many times," Frey added. "What our team has been able to accomplish together over the past few seasons is incredible. The legacy our seniors leave behind is amazing, so much love and respect for our girls."

The senior class was a part of three straight state championships, including a COVID-impacted 2020 season where they did not drop a single set.

Mariah Potter led the Hawks to the sectional final with an admirable performance as a setter, collecting 36 assists on the night.
