Lady Spartans advance with 46-41 win over Pulaski

The Luxemburg-Casco Lady Spartans survived a late comeback by the Pulaski Red Raiders on Wednesday and advanced in the WIAA Division 2 Regional State Tournament with a 46-41 victory at home.

After a slow sluggish start by both teams, the Spartans took control in the first half going up by as much as 12 points.  Taylor Thiry hit an off-balance shot in the final seconds to give L-C a 26-20 lead at intermission.

The Spartans were able to keep the Red Raiders at bay for most of the second half as Pulaski would close within four points numerous times, but no closer.

Lauren Adams had a monster game for the Spartans finishing with 24 points and was stellar at the free-throw line going 9 for 10.  Thiry added 17 more by hitting tough shots around the basket at key times.

Luxemburg-Casco, the #8 seed, will now move on to the regional semi-finals on Friday night to face the #1 seeded and #1 state-ranked Notre Dame Tritons in Green Bay.

Pregame on 96.7 WBDK is set for 6:30 pm with tipoff at 7 pm from Notre Dame Academy. The game will also be streamed on New Radio Sports Network with Matt Piesler and Paul Schmitt bringing you the call.
