Spartans crush Wrightstown 60-39 on 96.7 WBDK

The Luxemburg-Casco boys used relentless pressure defense and a balanced attack to run away from the Wrightstown Tigers 60-39 in North Eastern Conference basketball Friday Night in Luxemburg.

The Spartans jumped to an 8-2 lead early on and forced numerous turnovers as Wrightstown struggled, playing without their leading scorer Keegan Spees who missed the game with an illness.

Controlling the first half, the Spartans managed to build a double-digit lead at times and went into halftime leading 34-25.

Coming out of intermission the Spartans went on a run with Peyton Mrotek scoring 11 of his game-high 19 points in the second half.

The Spartans also got 14 points from Owen Deprez and 11 more from Caleb Blohowiak to overpower the Tigers.  Key contributions from Jack Rollin and Hayden Koss help spark the Spartan defense with energy, frustrating Wrightstown most of the night.  Wrightstown (2-6, 4-9 overall) was led by Jason Leitze with 10 points.

The next broadcast on 96.7FM WBDK and New Radio Sports Network will be next Tuesday night as the Luxemburg-Casco boys (3-5, 5-7 overall) host the Waupaca Comets.  Matt Pielser and Paul Schmitt will have the call starting at 6:30 with tip-off shortly after 7 pm.
