Spartans volleyball battles Reedsburg in state opener on 104.1 WRLU

The quest for a third straight state volleyball title begins on Friday when Luxemburg-Casco battles Reedsburg in a Division 2 semifinal match.

The Spartans are riding a 20 match winning streak to the Resch Center, which includes straight-set wins against Fox Valley Lutheran and Mosinee in the sectional round. The last time the Spartans dropped even a set was September 18th where it dropped matches against Brookfield East and Germantown and took two of three from Franklin. It was 2019 when the Spartans last dropped a best-of-five match.

Reedsburg makes their state tournament debut after a 27-8 season and a third-place finish in the Badger-West. It defeated River Valley and Baldwin-Woodville in the WIAA Sectional Round after toppling LaCrosse Logan and West Salem in the regional round. The winner will battle the winner of McFarland/Pewaukee on Saturday afternoon.

Tyler Thrune and Tim Kowols will have the call on 104.1 WRLU and NEWRadioSportsNetwork.com beginning at 1:30 p.m. with the pre-match show followed by the opening serve at 2 p.m. You can listen to the full interview with Spartans head coach Jeff Frey on the Luxemburg-Casco Sports Central Podcast page.
