The Luxemburg-Casco Spartans remained undefeated Friday night with a convincing 38-14 victory over the Marinette Marines in a North Eastern Conference game before a homecoming crowd at the Sports Complex.
The Spartans scored on an Isaac VandenBush touchdown run early in the first quarter. That touchdown by VandenBush set the career-record for touchdowns in school history with 36. VandenBush would add another touchdown in the first quarter on a 33 yard run to give the Spartans an early 14-0 lead.
Marinette bounced back with a long drive and a punishing running game to close within 14-6 on an Adam Lemery five-yard touchdown scramble with 7:46 left in the first half.
Responding with two more touchdown runs by VandenBush, including a 76-yard scamper with under a minute left in the half, the Spartans opened up a big 28-6 lead.
After a fumble, Spartan kicker John Larson hit a 36-yard field goal as time expired in the half to make the score 31-6.
VandenBush added his fourth touchdown of the night (39th career) early in the second half and the Spartans cruised to the 38-14 victory.
Luxemburg-Casco (3-0, 6-0 overall) will now travel to Kingford, Michigan next Friday to take on the Flivvers in a NEC matchup.
