The Luxemburg-Casco volleyball team ran into tough competition over the weekend at the Charger Tournament.
The Spartans finished tied for 21st place with a 3-2 record. In pool play, the Spartans beat Oshkosh West 25-16, 25-16 and Arrowhead 22-25, 25-22, 15-9 before falling to Germantown 18-25, 22-25. The Spartans lost a three-way tiebreaker, falling all the way to the bronze bracket. In the bronze bracket, the Spartans lost to Brookfield East 25-22, 23-25, 17-19 before ending their weekend with a win over Franklin 25-15, 17-25, 15-6.
Top performers included Emma Johnson (110 assists, 22 Digs, 7 Blocks), Grace Holschuh (39 Kills and 18 Digs), Autumn Flynn (26 Kills and 12 Blocks), and Brooke Vande Hei (39 Kills).
"This is always a really competitive tournament, and while we lost a couple of really tight and intense matches, I loved the fight in our girls, they battled all weekend. It’s a great measuring stick for us and will help as we move into the 2nd half of the season," said Spartans head coach Jeff Frey.
