Spartans dominate Little Chute on WBDK to stay undefeated

The undefeated Luxemburg-Casco Spartans left little doubt against Little Chute on Friday night on which L-C team is the forerunner in the North Eastern Conference.  The Spartans dismantled the Mustangs 42-7 in front of a packed Luxemburg- Casco Sports Complex that saw fireworks before, during, and after the game.  The capacity Veteran’s and Youth Night crowd was entertained by pre-game ceremonies, a stellar Spartan performance, and a fireworks display after the game.

The Spartans struck early after Ryan Routhieaux took the opening kick-off 57 yards to set up a 3-yard touchdown run by Isaac VandenBush with 10:35 left in the first quarter.

The scoring in the second quarter saw the Spartans put up three scores to take a commanding 28-0 lead into halftime.  The scoring included a Routhieaux 4-yard run, a two-yard scamper by Owen DePrez, and a 9-yard pass from DePrez to Evan Dorner.

VandenBush scored again in the third quarter on a five-yard run making the score 35-0 and starting a continuous clock.  That touchdown was VandenBush’s 35th career touchdown, tying him with Joe Majeski for the all-time record in Spartan football history.

Routhieaux capped off a career night with a 97-yard fumble return for a touchdown with 3:25 left in the third quarter.  He also had an interception earlier in the game as the Spartans capitalized on four Little Chute turnovers.

The Mustangs scored late in the third quarter on a three-yard run by Drew Josten, but that was all they could muster against the Spartan defense all night long.

Little Chute falls to 1-2 in the North Eastern Conference and 2-3 overall.

Next Friday will be Homecoming for Luxemburg-Casco against Marinette as the Spartans (2-0, 5-0 overall) look to keep their undefeated season going.  Matt Piesler and Paul Schmitt will have the call starting at 6:30 p.m. with the pregame show and kick-off set for 7 pm on 96.7FM WBDK.  The game audio can also be streamed on the NewRadioSportsRadioNetwork.com.
