The Luxemburg-Casco Spartans started fast and overcame a 90- minute weather delay to dominate the Seymour Thunder 43-0 at Thunder Stadium on Friday night in a non-conference football game.
The Spartans scored on the second offensive play of the game on a 54-yard pass from Owen Deprez to Ryan Routhieaux. The Spartans then tacked on two more scores in the first half before a severe thunderstorm delayed the game with 2:12 left in the second half.
The game officials and coaches agreed to return playing with no halftime and 10-minute quarters to complete the game.
When play resumed, the Spartans did not miss a beat as Routhieaux, Deprez, and Isaac VandenBush scored on runs in the abbreviated second half.
Luxemburg-Casco (2-0) will now travel to Winneconne next Friday night against the Wolves. Matt Piesler and Paul Schmitt will have the call starting at 6:30 p.m. with the pregame show and kick-off set for 7 pm on 96.7FM WBDK. The game audio can also be streamed on the NewRadioSportsRadioNetwork.com.
