A four-run sixth inning rally propelled the Marinette Marines to a 5-1 sectional semi-final victory over the Luxemburg-Casco Spartans Monday afternoon on WBDK 96.7 FM.  Both starting pitchers dominated through the first five innings with Spartan Rebecca Kroll having allowed only one walk and no hits to that point.  Marinette broke through in the top of the sixth with five hits and four runs to break the game open.  The Spartans could not solve the pitching mastery of Sidney Nimitz who held Luxemburg-Casco scoreless until the top of the seventh when Spartan Brianna Gaedkte led off with a booming home run over the left field fence after the Marines added an insurance run in the top half of the inning.  Kroll took the loss allowing five runs with eight hits and one walk while striking out two.  Nimitz struck out 12 Spartans while not issuing a walk and gave up only five hits in the complete game victory.  Luxemburg-Casco ends the season at 20-4, while Marinette will now travel to Winneconne to face the winner of Denmark-Waupan in the Division 2 WIAA Softball Sectional final on Wednesday.
