Spartans softball advances handily

On Monday, Luxemburg-Casco advanced their softball season, beating Fox Valley Lutheran 12-2. Rebecca Kroll put together a quality start at pitcher, and was credited with the win. Kroll also helped her cause in the beginning of the game with a double that knocked in two runs.

 

FVL opened the scoring in the first inning on back-to-back singles by B. Blob and M. Sokulski and a bases loaded walk to M. Cain which scored Blob.  L-C answered in their half of the first as Kenzie Hanson was hit by pitch, Payton Kaminski singled, and Lauren Adams singled to score Hanson. Kaminski and Adams scored on Rebecca Kroll's two RBI double to give LC a 3-1 lead after one. Luxemburg-Casco also scored three runs in the third, three in the fourth, and three more in the sixth. The fourth inning was highlighted by Kenzie Hanson's two-run home run.

 

Winning pitcher Rebecca Kroll threw a complete game, five-hitter with five strikeouts.

 

Leading hitters for Luxemburg-Casco were Payton Kaminski, 3/4 and three runs scored, Emily Jandrin, 2/3, Kenzie Hanson, home run, two runs scored and three RBI, and Kylie Hanson, 1/2, double, two runs scored and two RBI

 

The Spartans are now 19-3 will next play at home on Wednesday versus Shawano in a WIAA Regional Championship.  The Spartans and Shawano have not met up yet this season.
