Fast start gets Spartans softball past Storm

Luxemburg-Casco softball started out the game with five runs in the opening inning, and didn’t let up en route to a win over the Packerland leader, Kewaunee. The final score ended up 8-4. With the non-conference win, Luxemburg-Casco improves to 16-3 overall on the season. For Kewaunee, the loss puts their overall record at 13-6 this season. The game served as a tune-up for the WIAA playoffs that will begin on Monday. 

 

Luxemburg-Casco scored early and often. LC scored five in the first. Brianna Gaedtke's two-RBI double scored Kenzie Hanson and Payton Kaminski who each reached on singles. Two more runs came in on Rebecca Kroll's two-RBI double which scored courtesy runner Anna Vandermause and Kylie Hanson. The final run of the inning was produced by Grace Kahr's RBI single which scored courtesy runner Emily Bouche.

 

The Spartan's three runs in the second inning came home on Gaedtke's two-RBI single which again scored Kenzie Hanson and Payton Kaminski. Kroll's third RBI of the game came on a single which scored Jillian Jorgensen to complete LC's scoring.

 

Rebecca Kroll was the winning pitcher. Kroll struck out four and surrendered two earned runs.

Luxemburg-Casco completes the regular season at 18-3 and begins WIAA Regional play on Monday the 14th at home vs Fox Valley Lutheran
