Spartan softball edges Freedom

The Luxemburg-Casco Spartans defeated the Irish 5 to 4 in Luxemburg Wednesday evening.  

 

Due to wet field conditions in Freedom the pivotal North Eastern Conference game was moved to Luxemburg with Freedom remaining the home team.

 

Freedom opened the scoring in the second inning when Jordyn Van Rossum scored on Jadyn Feucht's RBI sacrifice fly.  L-C tied the game in the top of the third when Kenzie Hanson scored from third base on an error. Freedom regained the lead in their half of the third when Rachel Koss scored on Sadie Jarmolowicz's RBI single. The Spartans scored the deciding runs during a three-run fifth inning. An RBI double by Payton Kaminski scored Kenzie Hanson and RBI singles by Kylie Hanson and Grace Kahr scored Kaminski and Lauren Adams to put LC up 4 to 2.  LC's fifth and deciding run was scored by Anna Vandermause on Maddie Bouche's RBI single. Freedom cut the lead to one in the sixth on Naleyah Bork's two-RBI double which scored Jadyn Feucht and Rachel Koss. The Irish got the tying run in scoring position in the bottom seventh with a leadoff single by Jordyn Van Rossum and sacrifice by Taylor Theobald only to have consecutive fly ball outs to center field, ending the game.

 

Luxemburg-Casco is 9-2 in conference play; Freedom is 8-2
