Spartans crush Eagles on WBDK

The Luxemburg-Casco Spartans used a 36-7 run in the first half and pulled away from the Southern Door Eagles Tuesday night for an 84-49 non-conference victory.

The Spartans took advantage of the Eagles having to play their fifth game in six nights.   After a slow start, Southern Door pulled within a 14-12 margin midway through the first half.  The Spartans called a timeout and came out with a zone defense forced numerous turnovers and tough shots for the Eagles on the way to the decisive run and a 50-19 lead at halftime.

Coming out of halftime, L-C Coach Tyler Thrune substituted freely as the Spartans ended up with 11 players getting in the scoring column.  Logan Doell led the Spartans in scoring with 22 points while Ryan Robillard and Peyton Mrotek tallied 13 and 10 points respectively.

Southern Door was led by Alex Daoust who scored 13 of his team-high 18 points in the first half to keep the Eagles close early on.  Logan Jeanquardt added 11 points for the Eagles, but it was not nearly enough as the Spartans won the matchup of old rivals.

Luxemburg-Casco (11-7) will play the Oconto Falls Panthers Thursday night in the North Eastern Conference.  Southern Door (13-4) returns to Packerland Conference play with a game against Peshtigo on Friday Night.
