The Luxemburg-Casco Spartans wrestling team was able to escape Coleman with a 40-36 victory Tuesday night.

A battle of two of the state's top programs was as advertised as both teams went back and forth all night with L-C winning eight of the 14 contested matches. Easton Worachek started things off for the Spartans with a 13-0 major decision over the Cougars' Raymond LeMieux. The Cougars would rattle off two straight pins before Max Ronsman earned a second-period pin at 132 pounds and Luke Shefchik won his match at 138 pounds by a 9-5 decision over Wil Bieber.  The two teams traded pins for eight straight matches with Hunter Joniaux (152 lb, 3:31), Isaac Blohowiak (160, 1:01), Kyle Kroll (220, :44), and Travis LeGrave (285, 1:44) coming out on the winning side. With the Spartans hanging onto the dual by a single point, Issac Jerabek won in an active match at 106 pounds, getting the 9-5 decision over Cameron Kimmell.

The Spartans will wrestle next Tuesday morning at home against Bay Port with the first whistle taking place at 9:30 a.m.
