Spartans crush Panthers on WBDK, Robillard hits 1,000 on Senior Night

The Luxemburg-Casco Spartan boys’ basketball team celebrated a memorable Senior Night on Friday in Luxemburg blowing out the Oconto Falls Panthers 112-49 in a North Eastern Conference game.  Senior Ryan Robillard scored his 1,000th point in his Spartan career on a three-pointer from the top of the key with 3:32 left in the first half.  Robillard finished with a game-high 23, needing 21 points to reach the milestone.

The Spartans jumped out to a quick 10-0 lead over Oconto Falls in the first few minutes only to see the Panthers hit two three-pointers to cut the lead to four.  That was as close as Oconto Falls would get as the Spartans steamrolled Panthers by forcing numerous turnovers with a stifling 1-3-1 half-court trap.

With Robillard becoming the third player to score 1,000 points in a boys basketball career, the Spartans coasted into halftime with a 63-20 lead.

The Spartans substituted freely in the second half and kept the pressure defense going as junior Evan Dahlke had a career night scoring 19 points including six three-pointers with five of those coming in the second half.

All 11 Spartan players scored with five of them scoring in double figures, including Logan Doell who finished with 21.  The four seniors, Garret Zuleger, Blake Yagodinski, Jonas Otradovec, and Robillard were honored after the game with a brief ceremony.

Luxemburg-Casco (5-0) will now host Waupaca Tuesday night before the holiday break.   Matt Piesler and Paul Schmitt will have the call starting at 6:45 p.m. with the pregame show and tip-off set for 7:15 p.m. on 96.7FM WBDK.  The game audio can also be streamed on NEW Radio Sports Network.
