The Luxemburg-Casco Spartans boys’ basketball team celebrated a season opening victory over the Fox Valley Lutheran Foxes on Friday night, 51-40. Senior Ryan Robillard, junior Logan Doell and junior Peyton Mrotek led the way for the Spartans early on while Josiah Butler led the way for the Foxes. The first half favored the Spartans by seven points, 28-21. The Foxes came out with the first punch to start the second half putting the game within reach of two scores while the Spartans came out cold and were unable to score within the first 4 minutes. The defensive battle continued until the Spartans extended their lead and sailed to a double-digit win. LC’s Mrotek led the team in scoring with 21 points which helped the Spartans move to 1-0 in the North Eastern Conference. The Spartans will host Denmark next Tuesday.
