Luxemburg-Casco volleyball wins state championship on WBDK

The perfect 45-0 season was realized by the Luxemburg-Casco girls volleyball team Saturday with their second consecutive state championship at Kaukauna High School.  The Spartans (15-0) swept the Lakeside Lutheran Warriors with scores of 25-22, 25-21, and 25-17 to finish the season without losing a single set.

Jumping to a quick 12-5 lead in the first set, Luxemburg-Casco maintained the lead throughout even though Lakeside Lutheran closed within two points at one point.  Set two saw the Spartans jump to a quick lead only to see the Warriors tie the score as late as 20-20 before L-C scored five of the next six points to take a commanding 2-0 lead in the match.

The Spartans were not about to see history repeat itself where Lakeside Lutheran came back from that deficit in the State Finals in 2017 against the Spartans to claim the championship by winning the next three sets.  Set three started with a key injury early to Spartan Isabella Otradovec who was not able to return.  Kylie Hanson filled in and the team rallied from a 5-5 score to pull away with the 25-17 decisive set bringing the Spartans home with the Division II State Volleyball Championship.
