https://www.facebook.com/NEWRadioSportsThe Luxemburg-Casco Spartans used a relentless defense to stun the Little Chute Mustangs Friday night 28-0 in a North Eastern Conference football game in Luxemburg.  After a sloppy first quarter that saw numerous penalties and miscues, the Spartans finally got on the board with a one-yard run by Isaac VandenBush with only 44 seconds left in the first half to take a 7-0 lead into halftime.

 

 After stopping the Mustangs on their opening drive in the second half, The Spartans drove down and scored on a 4 yard run by Owen Deprez with 7:00 left in the third quarter.  The Spartans then put the game away on two defensive scores in the fourth quarter.  First, linebacker Logan Doell, who had a huge game with three sacks, returned an interception 29 yards for a touchdown with 7:03 left in the fourth quarter.  Then fellow linebacker Luke Brolin picked off a pass with 4:33 left and returned it 82 yards for the final touchdown. 

 

The Spartans picked off Mustang quarterbacks four times in the game with Ryan Routhieaux and VandenBush getting the other interceptions. 

 

 Luxemburg-Casco (1-1, 4-1 overall) will now travel to Appleton to play Fox Valley Lutheran in the regular-season finale next Friday.  Matt Piesler and Paul Schmitt will broadcast the game on WBDK 96.7 FM and the NEW Radio Sports Network starting at 6:30 pm with the pregame show and kick-off at 7 pm.
