Spartans dominate Eagles 49-14 on WBDK

A career night for running back Isaac VandenBush led the Luxemburg-Casco Spartans to an easy victory over the Southern Door Eagles Friday night in Brussels.  VandenBush scored six touchdowns as the Spartans turned a close 21-14 game into a second-half blowout victory.

The Eagles struck first with a 17 yard run by quarterback Alex Daoust with 4:09 left in the first quarter to take a 7-0 lead.  Luxemburg-Casco responded with an electrifying 83-yard run by VandenBush to tie the game late in the first quarter.  After another Vandenbush score, the Eagles tied up the game again with 2:11 left in the half on a seven-yard pass from Doaust to Nick Baudhuin.  The Spartans then scored a crucial touchdown with only 27 seconds left in the half on a three-yard run by VandenBush.  From that point on the Spartans scored 35 unanswered points to cruise to victory.  The Spartans' first offensive play in the second half was a 60-yard touchdown strike from Owen Deprez to Ryan Routhieaux.

Luxemburg-Casco (2-1 overall) will return home to play the Seymour Thunder in a non-conference game next Friday.  Southern Door (3-1 overall) travels to Sheboygan Falls in a non-conference game next week.

The Battle of the Booster Clubs came down to the wire as Luxemburg-Casco collected $445 in donations and Southern Door came in at $420.  Luxemburg-Casco will receive a $500 bonus check from NewRadioSportNetwork and the radio stations of DoorCountyDailyNews.com as well.  Donations can still be made over the weekend online.  Moolah the Cash Cow (aka Tim Kowols) will be delivering the check to L-C next Tuesday and make a few laps around the track at the Luxemburg-Casco Sports Complex.
