Spartans runners finish in top half of NEC

The Luxemburg-Casco cross country teams finished in the top of half of their conference Thursday in the NEC Championships held at Winagamie Golf Course in Neenah Thursday.

 

In the boys' race, the Spartans finished in fourth place, scoring 115 points and finishing behind co-champions Freedom and Little Chute (49 points) and Fox Valley Lutheran (58 points). Sophomore Spencer Thiry led the way for the Spartans, running a time of 17:13 to place seventh out of 57 runners. All five scoring runners for the Spartans broke the tape in under 20 minutes.

In the girls' race, the Spartans finished in third place, scoring 72 points and finishing behind Freedom (37 points) and Fox Valley Lutheran (65). Junior Megan Vandermause paced the Spartans with a time of 20:37 and a ninth-place finish. All five of its scoring runners finished the 5K course in less than 22 minutes.
