Some of the success the Green Bay women's program would have in the 2000s was born during the 2004 Luxemburg-Casco state championship season.
Future Phoenix standouts Rachel Porath and Trisha Legois were a one-two offensive punch for a Spartans squad that went undefeated during the season, including a 53-37 state semifinal win against Mosinee and a 59-51 championship clincher over Richland Center. In the game against Mosinee, the pair combine to score 32 of the team's 53 points while also helping hold Mosinee to just 29 percent shooting from the field. The team also finished its halves strong in the contest, outscoring their opponents 16-3 in the second quarter and 22-9 in the final stanza. In the championship game another future Phoenix standout Erin Templin would try to knock out the Spartans. She scored 16 but her future teammates combined to score 37 points in the Spartans last state championship win. The Spartans would make the state tournament in 2011, but lose in the final.
