Denmark spoils Spartan's homecoming 42-28 on WBDK

The Luxemburg-Casco Spartans had their homecoming spoiled with a 42-28 loss to the Denmark Vikings Friday night.  The Vikings controlled the line of scrimmage and the time of possession most of the evening as the Spartans could not overcome a strong Viking rushing attack.

Denmark scored first on a three-yard run by Gabriel Wertel on the opening drive to take a 7-0 lead.  A 19-yard pass from Spartan's quarterback Matt Cravillion to running back Reece Worachek tied the score at 7-7 to close the scoring in the first quarter.

Luxemburg-Casco took their only lead of the game with 11:21 left in the second quarter on a four-yard run by Worachek making it 14-7.

Denmark responded with two touchdowns before halftime to take a 21-14 lead into intermission.

The Spartans did manage to tie the game with the opening drive in the second half on a Cravillion two-yard touchdown run with 6:45 left in the third quarter.

Denmark responded by scoring 21 unanswered points to take a commanding 42-21 lead with 3:04 left in the game.

Worachek closed out the scoring with a one-yard plunge with only 1:03 left in the fourth quarter.

Denmark outgained L-C 414-233 in total yards and had the ball for 28:29 compared to 19:31 for the Spartans.

Luxemburg-Casco's Worachek finished with 65 rushing yards on 18 carries and two touchdowns.  Denmark's Wertel had a huge game with 184 rushing yards on 27 carries and three touchdowns.

The Spartans (3-3, 3-4 overall) will now need to win their final two games to become playoff-eligible.  They host Little Chute next Friday on Parent and Senior Night before closing the regular season traveling to Wrightstown.  Those games will be broadcast on 96.7 FM WBDK and streamed live on DoorCountyDailyNews.com.
