Kewaunee Softball Responds with Takedown of Algoma in Doubleheader

Kewaunee softball put together a strong all-around day to sweep Algoma, winning 7-0 and 6-4.

In game one, the Storm controlled things from the start in a 7-0 shutout. Breanna Riha led the way both at the plate and in the circle, tossing a complete game while adding two hits. Kewaunee steadily built its lead and showed patience at the plate, drawing seven walks.

The Storm followed with a 6-4 win in game two, capitalizing early before holding off a late Algoma push. Kewaunee’s defense stayed sharp, playing error-free across both games, while Riha, Kambreia Last, and Mariah Schlies contributed key hits and RBIs.

Algoma outhit Kewaunee in the second game and rallied late, highlighted by a two-run home run from Natalie Ray, but couldn’t complete the comeback.

Kewaunee improves to 11-5 on the season and returns to action Friday, May 1 for a doubleheader against Southern Door at 4:30 p.m. Algoma hosts Oconto for a doubleheader Thursday at 4:30 p.m.
