Comeback comes up short for Storm softball

The battle back from a 3-0 deficit proved to be too much for the Kewaunee softball team as they allowed a run in the seventh inning to drop their contest against Valders on Monday 4-3.

The Storm allowed a run in the third and two more in the fifth before they rallied in the sixth inning. In the sixth inning, Kambreia Last drove in the first run on a ground out while Braelyn Chevalier's bases-clearing triple tied the game. Megan Hochkammer's solo shot in the seventh proved to be the difference as the Storm left the tying run on second base.

Breanna Riha, Chevalier, Ali Repitz, and Summer Walechka recorded hits for the Storm in the loss with Repitz taking the decision from the circle, allowing four runs (4 ER) on seven hits and one walk while striking out six across seven innings.

The Storm are back in action Tuesday when they welcome Algoma for a pair beginning at 4:30 p.m. The Wolves are coming in with a three game winning streak, including a doubleheader sweep of Sturgeon Bay last Thursday and a 7-0 shutout of Bonduel on Friday.
