Storm softball edged in Two Rivers

A walk-off single in the ninth inning by Payten Baumann ended Kewaunee’s season-opening winning streak in a 5-4 loss to Two Rivers on Monday evening.

The Storm fell behind 4-0 after two innings as the Purple Raiders opened the second with four consecutive hits and capitalized on three errors. Ali Repitz limited the damage to four runs and went on to pitch five innings, allowing four runs (three earned) on six hits and two walks while striking out two.

Kewaunee rallied late, scoring one run in the fifth and seventh innings and two in the sixth to tie the game at 4. In extra innings, the Storm’s best chance came in the ninth when Kambriea Last reached on a two-out single, but Baumann later drove in Rylee Timm to secure the win for Two Rivers.

Vivian Bootz, Last, Cora Schleis and Repitz each had two hits in the loss, while Breanna Riha and Summer Walechka drove in the team’s runs. Riha took the loss in the circle, allowing one run on two hits and three walks while striking out one over the final 3 2/3 innings.
