The Kewaunee boys basketball team will wipe the slate clean next weekend when they open the WIAA Tournament, but they finished their record-setting regular season on a high note, beating Gibraltar 81-40 in Fish Creek.
The Storm started the game off on a 9-0 run and had a 15-0 run midway through the first half that all but ensured that they would spoil the Vikings' senior night. The two teams traded buckets late to give the Storm a 45-24 lead at the break.
The two teams played closer together in the opening minutes of the second half, but the Storm were able to once again piece together a 9-0 run later with their reserves to double up their hosts.
Avery Jerabek led the Storm with 18 points while Diesel Bosdeck chipped in 15 points, and Dane Harrell added 14 points in the win. Kayin Jackson was the lone Viking to reach double figures with 12 points while Aaron Brey and Charlie Reinhardt each chipped in eight points.
While the Vikings will conclude their regular season on Saturday with a home 1 p.m. tip against Wabeno-Laona, the Storm will have a week off before they battle either Weyauwega-Fremont or Manawa next Friday in Kewaunee. The NEW Radio Sports Network will have coverage of that game on 96.7 WBDK beginning at 6:45 p.m. with the pregame show followed by the opening tip at 7 p.m.
