History was made in Kewaunee as the Storm took down Algoma for a program-record 23rd win, 83-45, as heard on 104.1 WRLU.
Kewaunee jumped out to a 9-0 advantage to start the game and never looked back. The Storm used a second 9-0 run midway through the half to keep its foot on the gas, building the advantage to 34-17 behind the scoring efforts of Connor Kilgore and Evan Maccaux. Algoma managed to outscore Kewaunee 10-4 to close the half, heading into the break trailing 38-24.
Both teams scored on their opening possessions of the second half before Kewaunee went on a 13-0 run to put the game away. Avery Jerabek scored early and often in the second half to pace the Storm as it continued to pull away. Braeden Leist led a valiant effort to keep pace for Algoma, but Kewaunee was too much Monday night.
Kilgore led a quartet of double-digit scorers for Kewaunee with 20 points. He was joined in double figures by Maccaux with 18 points, Dane Harrell with 14 and Jerabek with 13. Leist also scored 20 points to lead Algoma and was the only double-digit scorer for the Wolves.
Kewaunee will wrap up the regular season by traveling to Gibraltar on Thursday, while Algoma will host Green Bay NEW Lutheran in its regular-season finale.
