The Kewaunee girls basketball team celebrated their coronation as Packerland Conference champions with a 54-23 win over Gibraltar on Thursday night.
The Storm opened up a 19-4 advantage in the game's first eight minutes and stretched that advantage out to 37-12 at the break. While the offensive pace slowed down, the Storm still took care of business on the defensive side of the ball, holding the injury-riddled Vikings to 11 point after halftime.
The Vikings will be back in action on Tuesday when they open the WIAA Tournament in Oshkosh against Lourdes Academy. Tim Kowols will have the call on 105.1 The GOAT beginning at 6:45 p.m. before the tip-off at 7 p.m. The Storm will wait for the dust to settle on Tuesday before hosting its tournament opener next Friday.
In other action, Southern Door fell to Peshtigo 55-47, Sturgeon Bay lost to Oconto 50-31, and Luxemburg-Casco came up short against Oconto Falls 48-41 on 104.1 WRLU.
