Storm boys pick up comeback win against Bears

The Kewaunee Storm boys basketball team survived a scare from a fellow ranked opponent Monday, slipping past fifth-ranked Bonduel 81-77.

The Storm trailed the Bears 38-30 at halftime but outscored them 51-39 in the second half to remain unbeaten on the season. Kewaunee led Bonduel in rebounds (31-26), assists (15-11) and steals (6-4), while the Bears stayed close thanks to their free-throw shooting (93% to 67%).

It was the narrowest margin of victory for the Storm since a 73-70 win over Howard’s Grove on Jan. 2.

The Storm is now ranked #1 in the Bound Wisconsin/Zaleski Sports Boys Basketball Media Poll, swiping the top spot from Milwaukee Juneau.

The Storm return to conference play Friday with a trip to Oconto.
