Kewaunee High School

Kewaunee's Gauthier looks ahead to the future with eyes on the present

Even though his fall plans are pretty much solidified, Kewaunee wrestler Trevor Gauthier still has plenty to prove before his high school career comes to a close.

Gauthier is riding a winning streak heading into Saturday's tournament at Sheboygan North. He went 3-0 at a triple-dual earlier this week against Manitowoc Lutheran, Marinette, and Sturgeon Bay/Sevastopol after winning four matches last Saturday to win the Freedom Irish Invitational. This season's success so far did not come without hard work, something that is not lost on Gauthier.

With one eye on the present, Gauthier has the other eye on the future. He plans on attending UW-Stevens Point this fall as a member of the football team as he comes of a senior campaign that saw him earn First Team All-Conference honors as a defensive back. He is still determining on whether he wants to go into elementary education or finance. Gauthier is getting a crash course on a possible career in elementary education working with the district's 3K and 4K students. He says it has been fun working with the kids and seeing them in the hallways.

Gauthier looks to extend his winning ways this weekend when the Kewaunee wrestling team travels to Sheboygan North for an invitational. You can hear our whole conversation with Gauthier as a part of our weekly Kewaunee County Wrestling Podcast.
