Kewaunee battles hard in four-set loss to Peshtigo

Despite a gritty effort and several strong rallies, the Kewaunee volleyball team fell to Peshtigo 3-1 Tuesday night. The Storm showed plenty of fight throughout the match, never backing down even when facing large deficits.

Peshtigo opened strong, using a 5-point run early in the first set to build an 8-3 lead and maintain control on the way to a 25-14 win. Kewaunee answered in the second, pulling away late after a 16-16 tie and sealing the set 25-18 on an ace from Ali Obry.

The Bulldogs responded in the third, jumping out to an 8-1 lead before Kewaunee surged ahead 10-9 behind steady defense and strong serving. Peshtigo regained control to win 25-19, then carried that momentum into the fourth. Despite trailing 17-8, Kewaunee clawed back before Peshtigo closed out the set 25-17 to secure the match.

With the loss, Kewaunee drops to 10-6 overall and 4-2 in conference play, moving into third place in the Packerland conference standings. Peshtigo improves to 17-8 overall and 4-1 in the conference, jumping into second place.

Kewaunee returns to action Thursday, October 9, when they host Oconto in another key Packerland matchup.
