Kewaunee Football Storms Past Oconto

The Kewaunee Storm kept their momentum rolling Friday night, following up last week’s bounce-back win over Brillion with a dominant 40-6 victory over Oconto.

It was all Storm from the start. After receiving the opening kickoff, Kewaunee marched down the field, converting a key 4th-and-5 before senior quarterback Brett Paulsen capped the drive with the first of many touchdowns for the purple and gold.

From there, Oconto struggled to find any rhythm against Kewaunee’s defense, while the Storm continued to pile on. Paulsen added three first-half rushing touchdowns and connected with fellow senior Connor Kilgore for another through the air, giving Kewaunee a commanding 26-0 lead at the break.

The second half belonged to the defense. The Storm forced three interceptions, including a pick-six from Paulsen on the opening drive after halftime. It marked the second straight week Kewaunee has held its opponent to a score or less.

Paulsen added one more touchdown late before Oconto finally broke through with a consolation score in the fourth. Baylor Elliott’s interception of quarterback Helnore in the final seconds sealed the win as Kewaunee moved to 2-1.

The Storm’s confidence continues to grow as they dive deeper into the season.
