Storm, Lancers meet in WIAA State Baseball

The Kewaunee baseball team is one win away from adding gold to its trophy case, but they will have to beat top-ranked Kenosha St. Joseph to do it Thursday afternoon at Neuroscience Group Field at Fox Cities Stadium.

Big hits from Brady Pribek and Connor Kilgore and a strong outing from Brett Paulsen helped the Storm beat Fennimore 5-3 Tuesday afternoon. Ethan Paplham posted two hits in the win for the Storm with Paulsen and Pribek responsible for the other two hits. Paulsen earned the win while Delain picked up the save with two scoreless innings. Manager Dan Spranger was proud of how his team responded to adversity during the game after being put down in order during the first three innings and committing two errors, but added that they would have to work on things during their Wednesday practice to make sure they perform even better on Thursday.

The Storm will now face defending state champion Kenosha St. Joseph in the DIvision 3 title game after they toppled Barron 14-4 in five innings, put the game away in the fifth inning with eight runs. Catcher Peter Visconti led the way with three hits and three RBI in the win for the Lancers. Spranger said they are the number one team in the state for a reason.

Tim Kowols and Jacob Nate will have the call again on Thursday on 104.1 WRLU with the pregame show at 11:45 a.m. followed by the first pitch at noon.
