The Kewaunee Storm were able to use a stellar pitching performance to get past Southern Door, winning 2-0, as heard on 104.1 WRLU on Tuesday afternoon.
Brett Paulsen took the hill for the Storm and was masterful, pitching 5.2 innings of perfect baseball before Braylon Berg bunted a single down the third baseline, Southern Door’s only baserunner of the game. Paulsen struck out 12 over 6 total innings of work and earned the win. Waylon Delain closed out the game with 2 strikeouts in the 7th.
Offensively, Kewaunee had plenty of traffic on the basepaths, working several walks off Drew Daoust, but couldn’t plate a run until the 3rd. Ethan Pathan worked a walk, followed by back to back singles from Connor Kilgore and Brett Paulsen loaded the bases. Brady Pribek drove in a run on a fielder’s choice to put Kewaunee in front. The Storm tacked on another in the 6th when they loaded the bases after a pair of walks sandwiched around a Diesel Bosdeck double. Alec Carlson got hit by a pitch to bring in the run, putting Kewaunee up 2-0.
After 4 games in 5 days, the Storm get some well deserved rest prior to a battle against Gibraltar on Friday for control of the Packerland Conference.
