Friday was a mixed bag for the Kewaunee Storm baseball team. They beat Gladstone 7-4 while losing to Escanba 8-3.
In their win over Gladstone, a six-run fifth inning proved to be the difference for the Storm. Ethan Paplham's bases-clearing triple and two-RBI double from Micah Vanness proved to be the most significant blows dealt by the Storm. Connor Kilgore went 3-4 with an RBI, while four others recorded at least one hit. Will Delain nearly went the distance, striking out nine batters while allowing four runs (0 ER) on four hits.
The Storm suffered a big run inning in their loss to Escanaba. They allowed seven runs on two errors and two walks, leaving the de facto home team without an advantage. The Storm took a 3-1 lead in the third inning on a pair of errors. Paplham, Kilgore, Delain, and Carlson all had hits in the loss.
