Storm run past Mishicot on 104.1 WRLU

The Kewaunee Storm sent their homecoming crowd home happy with a 35-14 win over the Mishicot Indians in Packerland Conference football Friday night.

Jackson Wisnicky and Tyler VanGoethem led the way on the ground for the Storm with two touchdowns each and the Kewaunee defense shut down Mishicot most of the night.

The Storm opened the game by scoring on a 46 yard-run by Wisnicky on a four-play 67 yard drive with 9:55 left in the first quarter.

It took Mishicot just two minutes as well to come right back and score on a 33-yard touchdown pass from Eli Skarda to Bryce Grossheim.  Mishicot missed the extra point to still trail at 7-6.

Kewaunee scored on an eight-yard run by Wisnicky with 4:10 left in the first quarter to make it 14-6 and never looked back.

VanGoethem scored on a 24 yard-run to open up the lead to 21-6 for the Storm in the second quarter to close out the scoring in the first half.

Quarterback Brett Paulsen and Van Goethem would score on one-yard runs in the second half to give the Storm a commanding 35-6 lead.

Mishicot scored with 2:31 left in the game on a five-yard touchdown pass from Skarda to Brian Lambrecht, but it was too little and too late for the Indians who fall to 1-2 in conference and 1-4 overall.

Wisnicky left the game early in the fourth quarter after injuring his knee during one of his big runs of the night and did not return to the game.

Kewaunee (2-1, 3-2 overall) will now head north to play the Sturgeon Bay Clippers.  The pregame is set for 6:45 p.m. on 104.1 WRLU, and kick-off is set for 7 p.m. from Memorial Field. The game will also be streamed on New Radio Sports Network with Jacob Nate on the call.
