The Kewaunee Storm’s season ended in the regional semi-final on Tuesday with a 1-0 loss to Mary’s Catholic Zephyrs in Division 3 baseball.
Zephyrs’ starting pitcher Colin Nigl threw a two-hit shutout and had two hits and a sac fly RBI to lead St. Mary’s Catholic offense.
Brett Paulsen took the hard-luck loss, going 5.2 innings and allowing only one run on five hits while striking out seven.
The Zephyrs scored in the top of the third inning when Luke Fairweather scored after leading off with a single, advancing to third on an error, and scoring on Nigl's sac fly to right field.
The Storm could only manage two hits off Nigl, with a single by Waylon Delain in the first and a two-out single by Brady Pribek in the ninth. Connor Kilgore flew out to the center fielder to end the game and season for the Storm.
St. Mary’s Catholic (16-7) advances to play Shiocton on Wednesday in the regional final. Kewaunee ends the season with a 17-6 record and a co-championship in the Packerland Conference.
