Storm sweeps Clippers, claim share of Packerland title

The Kewaunee Storm claimed a share of the Packerland Conference Friday night by shutting out the Sturgeon Bay Clippers 10-0 and 4-0 in doubleheader action at Memorial Field on 104.1 WRLU.

Brett Paulsen pitched a six-inning complete game, two-hit shutout for the Storm in the game one win.  Kewaunee took a 1-0 lead in the third on an RBI single by Collin Spranger and then the offense exploded with seven runs in the fifth inning to put the game away.

Brody Kollath took the loss for the Clippers going 4.1 innings and giving up five earned runs.

The Storm won the game in the sixth, finishing with a suicide squeeze bunt by Paulsen to make it 10-0.

In the nightcap, the Storm jumped on starter Bryce Plzak with four runs and four hits in the first inning and that was all the scoring Kewaunee would need.  Brady Pribek pitched a masterpiece by going the distance striking out seven and allowing only one hit while setting down the first 15 Clippers he faced.

Kewaunee (11-3, 15-4 overall) will now play Valders at home on Monday in non-conference action before Gibraltar comes after their game to finish the 4-4 suspended game that was halted after the eighth inning two weeks ago.  If the Storm wins, they will win the Packerland Conference outright.
