Storm narrowly splits Oconto doubleheader

Just two runs separated the Kewaunee Storm from an undefeated start or a winless stretch as they lost to Oconto Blue Devils 5-4 before beating them 3-2 in the second matchup.

In the first game, the Storm jumped out to a 3-0 lead thanks to an error in the first inning and a sacrifice fly, and an error in the third inning. After the Blue Devils scored at the bottom of the third, the two traded runs in the fourth before the hosts took the lead, with a three-run rally in the fifth thanks to RBI base hits by Devon Bostwick and Levi Beirl. Collin Spranger scored 2-4 and two runs, while Owen Vaughn registered the lone RBI for the Storm while going 1-3 in the morning.

In the second game, the Storm did all of their damage in the third inning when Brett Paulsen singled home two runs, and Brady Pribek drove in the third tally on a double. Pribek was also responsible for holding down the Blue Devils, going 5 2/3 innings while allowing two runs (2 ER) on five hits. Ayden Smidle recorded the final out for the Storm. Garett Goebel and Kyle Bowman drove in the lone runs for the Blue Devils.
