Storm baseball hits diamond for doubleheader

The Kewaunee Storm baseball team will not ease into the season, starting it right away on Monday with a doubleheader against Packerland Conference foe Oconto on the road.

The twin bill was originally scheduled for April 13th.

The Storm finished last season 22-5 overall and a perfect 16-0 anchored by Packerland Conference Player of the Year Cal Ihlenfeldt during his senior campaign. Their season ended abruptly in the WIAA Regional as they lost to New Holstein 7-5. Owen Carlson, Thomas Stangel, Ethan Paplham, Braxton Riha, and Collin Spranger were All-Packerland Conference performers last season and could return this year.

The Blue Devils had five All-Packerland Conference players last year, with Cooper Campsure and Ethan Wusterbarth the top returners. They went 18-6 last year and 12-4 in the Packerland Conference. Their season ended last year with a 6-5 extra-inning loss to Shiocton in the first day of the WIAA Regional.

First pitch of the Easter Monday doubleheader in Oconto is scheduled for 10 a.m.
