Storm breeze by Tigers, host Valders in Regional final on 104.1 WRLU

The Kewaunee Storm girls defeated the Howards Grove Tigers 51-32 in a Division 4 regional semi-final on Friday night.

Using their high-pressure three-quarter court press all night long, Kewaunee forced 23 turnovers and controlled the game after trailing only once at 6-5.

The Storm got a huge boost off the bench from Braelyn Chevalier and Lily Morton in the first half as Kewaunee took a 26-11 lead into intermission.

Chevalier scored all her eight points in the first half and led the Storm with six steals.

The Storm would extend their lead to as many as 27 points in the second half, as Kewaunee was never seriously challenged the rest of the way.

Kewaunee had a balanced attack led by Jade Kroll’s 11 points, while Brianna Demmin added nine points, and Chevalier’s eight.

Whitney Schumacher tallied 12 points for Howards Grove.

Kewaunee (23-2) will now host #4 Valders Saturday night for the regional championship.  The game will be broadcast on 104.1 WRLU and streamed on New Radio Sports Network starting at 6:45 p.m. with the pregame and tipoff at 7:00 p.m.   Paul Schmitt and Henry Annen will have the call from Kewaunee High School.
